Intervention Project-4D

When I was assigned this project, it was perfect timing since I was going through some personal issues. The assignment was to create an intervention piece to show somewhere in a public space. I decided to draw a “botanical brain” using a pencil and paper. Along the side of the brain, I wrote “Your brain is delicate, nurture it. #mentalhealth”. I scanned my image, made copies and used double-sided adhesive. Where is a place that one can go to and cry when feeling venerable and having scary thoughts? The art building bathroom stalls. On each of the stall doors is the Phoenix Center information. The Phoenix Center is a safe space for anyone going through a hard time. I figured anyone going through a tough time would feel encouraged to go to the Phoenix Center if they saw my work. I wanted to promote mental health awareness in dealing with depression, anxiety, addiction, abuse, etc. What I took away with this project was being audience focused and incorporating that with my art.
